Yeronga Village
Situated in the green heart of Yeronga, The Village is knitted into the community, representing a major shift in thinking from traditional retirement and aged care facilities, designed to offer residents a fully supported environment within an independent living framework.
The ageing in place model allows for various forms of aged care within the one site. The higher density inner city product, permitting residents to stay close to family and friends within their neighbourhood while providing access to familiar external facilities for residents. Yeronga Village compliments this ethos with a design suited to Brisbane’s subtropical climate utilising passive design strategies and extensive rainwater harvesting. Materials have chosen for longevity and colour is used to assist with wayfinding and building delineation.
The development’s 240 independent living apartments, 60 assisted living apartments and a 110 bed full aged care nursing home facility is further supported with extensive community facilities providing opportunities to build valuable social networks within the retirement village community.
“The Village at Yeronga is a shining example of how integrated continuing care retirement living can be successfully delivered utilising the framework of traditional multi-story medium density development. Being the first of its kind within inner city Brisbane, The Village at Yeronga has established the benchmark from which all others will now be judged.”
